Reaktor Ensembles
Reaktor is a commercial software music synthesis construction set, developed
by the German company Native Instruments.
This software allows one to build very complex, professional-sounding,
electronic music synthesis systems.
The following lists gives some of the Reaktor ensembles that I have developed. These ensembles can also be downloaded from the Reaktor User Library on the
Native Instruments company web site.
Note: You need the Reaktor software to run these ensembles!
- Eccentrix le Oscillatorix
A Buchla-esque FM oscillator.
- Driftwood Arpeggiator
This is a full-featured note arpeggiator. Of special note is the "fit" mode,
where the notes are all fit into a beat.
- Derelayer
An interesting sounding synth based on tuned harmonic delay lines.
- wXform
This is another additive synthesizer, based on a Walsh function decomposition
of waveforms. It produces rather electronic sounds.
- mx20 bassline
A sequenced synth based on a model of the Korg MS-20 filter.
- Relentless
A rather mad repetitive sample player.
- Stereo Monitor
Instrument to display stereo signal amplitudes, phases and correlation.
- Sympathizer of Goom
This is a rather standard style of synthesizer, which produces strong
lead and bass sounds. It is also capable of generating rather bizarre
alien sounds, for those who like that sort of thing.
- Tesla Tone
Sparkly synthesizer.
- Sehktar sitar
Physically modeled sitar synthesizer.
- Babble_On
This is a full-featured speech synthesis system, with a sequencer that produces
rather endearing vocal performances of songs.
- Dziban Droner
This ensemble runs by itself, producing a very sweet-sounding drone.
- Harmoshift
This is a synthesizer that generates rather interesting sounds with
uncommon harmonic structures.
- Dark Adder
An additive synthesizer, based on a fast sine module.
- MonaPolly
An emulation of the well-known Korg Mono/Poly hardware synthesizer.
- Clarkinet
A physical model of a clarinet-like instrument. This extends the idea of a
clarinet to a system involving a series of adjustable-size tube sections. It
can produce somewhat realistic clarinet-like sounds, but also can give
chaotic squonking.
- Strum Guitar
A physical model of an acoustic or electric guitar, in combination with
a guitar amp. Based on Kristian Thom's acoustring ensemble, this ensemble
incorporates a number of additional modeling details, such as the coupling
between strings, and the effect of the electric guitar pickup position.
- Traffic
An algorithmic-generation system that produces notes based on a simple
4-street traffic model. Hypnotic...
- Amulet of Wonder
This ensemble sings Christmas carols in four part harmony. And it looks good
doing it.
- Karmic Entanglement /
A work of performance art. A self-running system that repeats samples over
and over, with blending of randomly selected samples.
Sample files for Karmic Entanglement
- Magma
This is a simple ensemble that generates deep gurgling sounds, like flowing
lava.
- Arcturan Abacus
An alien sound generation ensemble, with a peculiar user interface.
- Chaos_Lfo
A simple experimental ensemble (later used in the "Sympathizer of Goom"
ensemble) that uses a coupled set of 3 low frequency oscillators, which
produces unpredictable patterns.
- Orion's Belt Buckle
Another alien sound generation ensemble with a strange user interface.
- Dziban TV
An alien TV show.
- Wettener
An "effect" ensemble, which splits the incoming sound into a number of
frequency bands which are then each passed through separate time-delay
modules then combined. This can give a "wetness" to the sounds.
- Woundwind
A physical model of an oboe. Has a strange user interface because I made
it around the time of Halloween.
- Biohazard
A synthesizer ensemble that produces harsh, inharmonic lead sounds.
- Big Brother
An experimental ensemble to test ideas related to audio-rate modulation
of filters. Generates some interesting and different timbres.
