ADMISSION INTO OUR GRADUATE PROGRAMS IS EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE. In the recent past we've had several hundred doctoral applicants and close to 2000 master's applicants. As a result, the acceptance rates are presently at about 5%. A very large number of our applicants indicate research interests in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Vision, NLP and related fields.

If you are enquiring about a doctoral or masters level position please follow the necessary steps to submit a FULL APPLICATION which meets the requirements of the School of Computer Science, as detailed here. Admission to our graduate programs is handled by a committee and their selection is based on a comparison against several other applicants. Members of the committee will look at your full package and will require you to have an outstanding academic record, well defined research interests as indicated in your statement of purpose, a demonstration of very solid research potential and strong reference letters. If your application meets these requirements it will be viewed by professors whose research interests are closest to yours. Publications in international conferences and/or journals will be viewed as an asset. If your interests are in medical imaging, computer vision, robotics, control, artificial intelligence, or machine learning you might consider applying as well to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and to the Department of Biomedical Engineering to maximize your chances. Several colleagues in these departments are carrying out research in these and related areas.
