ACADEMICS
I have completed my Master's Degree of Electrical Engineering at McGill Univeristy. Some of the courses I have taken in the context of my degree are described below:

  • Master's Thesis
  • Visual Motor Systems (Bibliography | Project)
  • Image Processing (Bibliography | Project)
  • Computer Graphics
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Pattern Recognition (Project)
  • Spatial Representation and Mobile Robotics
  • My research interests are in the area of computer vision. They include active vision for object recognition, image processing, shape from motion, optical flow estimation, image coding, and information theory.

I held a position as a teaching assistant for three semesters. The course I tutored was a first year undergraduate course in Elecltrical Engineering titled Introduction to Computer Engineering I. The course covers everything from binary representations of data, to low-level digital design, to RISC assembly programming, to 'C' code programming, and finally high-level MIPS architecture design. Class size usually exceeds eighty students a semester. I teach two hours a week and am available to answer questions by e-mail or in person the rest of the week. By far, this has been the most interesting part of my degree up until now.

    PERSONAL INTEREST
    I have several hobbies.

I am an avid reader of English literature. Some of my favorite authors are Ernest Hemingway, Charles Dickens, Mordecai Richler, Margaret Atwood, Margaret Lawrence, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Kurt Vonnegut, Alistair MacLeod, and Walt Whitman.

I have written a short biographical piece on Ernest Hemingway (see Papa Page). It was named Best Heminwgay Resource on the Web in Microsoft Encarta '98. The page was recently removed from the web due to copyright issues with Simon and Shuster. It has since been re-posted exluding pictures.

I am also a SciFi affectionado. In particular, I enjoy Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark and L. Ron Hubbard's works.

Another hobby of mine is playing guitar. Favorite artists and groups include Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Bush, Our Lady Peace, U2, Stone Temple Pilots, Dave Mathiews Band and Alanis Morissette. Favorite albums: Temple of the Dog, Ten, Naveed, Women & Song, Dirt, Under the Pink, Joshua Tree and Siamese Dream.

I am the biggest movie buff. Some of my favorites include The Godfather I&II, Doctor Zhivago, Terms of Endearment, Fight Club, The Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Contact, Twelve Monkeys, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Forest Gump, Antonia's Line, Before the Rain, Cinema Paradiso, Meditarenea, All the Right Moves, Reality Bites, Hackers and Singles.
