Stimulator of Tactile Receptors by Skin Stretch (STReSS)

The STReSS devices are 2D laterotactile displays composed of arrays of piezoelectric benders. The latest prototype (named STReSS2) has an array of 10-by-6 actuators that stimulate the fingertip over a region of about 1 cm2.

Tactile Handheld Miniature Bidirectional (THMB) device

The THMB makes us of an improved miniature version of the VBD to stimulate a user's thumb fingertip skin. It is mounted on a slider and enclosed into a handheld device. It was designed to explore rich tactile interactions with mobile devices.

Virtual Braille Display (VBD)

The VBD is a 1D laterotactile display composed of piezoelectric actuator sheets that are stacked together. It was designed as a proof-of-concept prototype to evaluate the feasibility of displaying virtual Braille dots to the visually impaired.
