CPU scheduling in UNIX

We'll give here, as a case study, some notions on the short time scheduling subsystem in UNIX. We begin the discussion with a review of CPU scheduling in ``traditional'' implementations of the system, 4.2BSD being a good example of them. In a later section the scheduler of the more modern UNIX System V R4 is analysed in some detail.
