Virtual Reality is a synthetic user environment which is based on computer generated images, sound, and sophisticated human interfaces such as motion platforms, stereo headmounted displays, data gloves, bodysuits, voice recognition etc. It can service a single user or a number of users concurrently. We are investigating the application of this technology in a number of domains such as teaching, equipment maintenance, operator training, and fault diagnosis.

The physical manipulation of equipment in response to operator activities requiring visual inspection is addressed, including audio immersion in ambient sound, action noises and synthesized speech.
