CIM PhD student under the supervision of Prof. James Clark earns Borealis AI Graduate Fellowship

Congratulations to PhD student Ibtihel Amara on receiving the prestigious Borealis AI Graduate Fellowship. She is a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. James Clark in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her research looks to bridge the "trust gap" between humans and intelligent machines. She is one of ten 2019-2020 award recipients from Borealis AI, a Royal Bank of Canada research institute which focuses on state-of-the-art and ethical AI. These funds will enable her to pursue her research in addressing uncertainty and integrating reliability and trust into modern AI systems, which is important in applications such as medical diagnosis, self-driving cars and financial banking.
