CIM members and associates named Canada CIFAR AI Chairs

On December 3rd, 2018, the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) announced the inaugural cohort of 29 Canada CIFAR AI (CCAI) Chairs, including six from McGill. Among these esteemed researchers, there is one full CIM member, Prof. Joelle Pineau, two associate members, Prof. Jackie Cheung and Prof. Doina Precup, as well as a REPARTI member, Prof. Yoshua Bengio at Université de Montreal. The CCAI chair program represents an investment of $30 million that will help to maintain Canada's leadership in AI research. The chairs are affiliated with Mila which is a Montreal-based pioneer in the field of deep learning and deep neural networks, and part of a larger investment in a Pan-Canadian AI strategy. CIM is proud of its members who will take part in this exciting new development in AI research.
