Zames Seminar Room - MC437

The Robot Mechanical Systems Laboratory has been in development in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University since 2002. There are two distinct sections in the Laboratory: motion simulator platforms; and industrial robots. Within each section there are a variety of current projects

financed through industrial and public sector sources. Currently three Ph.D. and three Master's students are advancing the research and project work. In this seminar the following four projects will be outlined and some results discussed: 1) the Atlas motion platform, a 6 DOF platform with a singularity free and unbounded orienting workspace; 2) a hybrid parallel-serial arm using architecture singular SGPs for actuators; 3) integrated type and dimensional kinematic synthesis for planar rigid-body guidance; 4) modelling and compensating temperature-induced deformations in industrial robots.
